Mississippi’s Beautiful Blues

Douglas and I surprised ourselves once again by completing all and more that we set out to do, this time on the first-ever designated Mississippi tour, inspired by George Rodrigue’s amazing, relatable life story and poignant, impactful art. I can’t help but wonder, as I often do, how in the world did we get here?

Here’s a sampling of photos, thanks to Heather LaCoste of the Mississippi Alliance for Arts Education, and my partner on this beautiful life’s journey, Douglas Magnus.

It takes a lot of work behind the scenes to put these tours together. A huge thank you to the teachers and students, the planners and press, the financial sponsors, and the friends who housed us and fed us in 10 different overnight locations during this 2-week tour, including 11 art and storytelling presentations in schools and museums throughout Mississippi.

Finally, none of this would be possible without the skilled organization and planning of my sister, Heather Parker, and the steadfast support of my husband, Douglas Magnus.

Douglas and I were well cared for by “Lenny” in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

I feel blessed and grateful to be able to share George Rodrigue in this wonderful, personal way. My heart overflows with appreciation and love. May you and yours experience the joys of the season, the blessings of this ever-changing, wondrous life, and the true happiness of genuine, meaningful connections, all year long.

Join me for a tour of the MOST amazing, out-of-this-world artworks, created and presented by Mississippi students!
Thank you to Mrs. Virginia McLaughlin and the students of St. Martin School in Ocean Springs, Mississippi!

Much more to come, as the 2023 tour takes us to Florida schools in partnership with the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation, followed by Louisiana, New Hampshire, and Illinois, in exciting museum and education partnerships sponsored by Avery Insurance, Telich Custom Homes, Morgan Stanley, and multiple private contributions. Thank you for your generous support of this programming, inspired by and honoring the life and art of George Rodrigue! Hope to see you on the road!

Enjoy life!

Wendy
