George Rodrigue: Reflections of Love
a Presentation by Wendy Rodrigue
for the Ethel Claiborne Dameron Lecture Series

This lecture series is held annually in memory of Ethel Claiborne Dameron, founder of the West Baton Rouge Historical Association and West Baton Rouge Museum.

This personal sharing by George Rodrigue’s widow, Wendy, explores the artist’s commitment to mirroring his feelings on his canvas and, particularly after his cancer diagnosis and with the help of his computer, digitally. For this all-new presentation, Wendy supplements artworks in the current WBRM exhibition with six additional pieces shared from her private collection, also part of her Fall 2023 Life & Legacy Foundation statewide tour of schools. Using chrome, transparency, and other techniques, these unique pieces not only reflect George Rodrigue’s presence and emotions, but also those of the viewer. In this way, Rodrigue invites everyone to participate in his imaginary, expressive world.
