What a day! We are extremely honored that U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy expressed a great interest in viewing this magnificent installation of George Rodrigue’s paintings, The River is the Road: Paintings by George Rodrigue, currently on view at the West Baton Rouge Museum. He took the time to really look… and he saw! He beautifully articulated his personal observations of the art.
Like most Louisianians, Senator Cassidy is familiar with Rodrigue’s paintings. Seeing him surprised in this exhibition not only by artworks previously unknown to him, but also by George’s highly personal expressions of his lifelong love for Louisiana, reinforces the significance of these exhibitions in solidifying George Rodrigue as one of America’s most important artists. Furthermore, it is obvious that the Senator appreciates the importance of the arts in education, as well as the ability of these exhibitions to inspire students of all ages on their unique creative journeys.
